Brian has been in the venture business for over 15 years, and specializes in the semiconductor, optoelectronics, cloud computing and artificial intelligence space. Prior to joining ITIC, Brian was with CIDC, where he achieved several successful exits and was actively involved in fundraising and managing investment cooperation with Chinese VCs.
What’s the greatest value you bring to startups?
I’ve sat on the boards of a lot of startups, and a consistent value I’ve brought is improvements in key performance metrics, through fine-tuning operational strategies, bringing in new business opportunities, and integrating available but easily-missed resources.
To you, what’s the most important trait of a good VC?
You gotta really have a nose for industry gaps and business opportunities that open up, if only for an instant, as well as the decisiveness to get in fast.
